OPI Black Spotted Over Neons

By now maybe you've heard there is some clamoring over a new OPI polish. It's called "Black Spotted" and has only been released in French Sephoras. No plans that it will come to the US or anywhere else in Europe. :( If you have a random connection to a relative or friend in France, have them track this down for you! Or you can choke down a steep price on eBay. It's a must have.

It's a twisted type of special effect top coat, almost like Crackle, but not quite. It's like oil and water or something..... Amazing. :) The effect is immediate and the polish is fairly thin. It dries quickly and has a shiny finish. The instruction tag says to apply in a THIN coat. I had to play with it before I got it just right. I got the best results when I had just a little polish on the brush, then I applied it to the middle of my nail and swept over the nail a few times. Where normally I apply my polish with just 3 strokes, this time I would have just a little polish and do at least 5 strokes. The little openings start forming immediately, but with a few extra strokes you can get an even and thin layer on before it dries.

And can I just add that it's a BEAST to get off your cuticles. So be cautious to not be too messy. My angled clean up brush had to scrub a little more than normal.

I started with a base of white polish. Sinful Colors Snow Me White

Random blobs of neon polishes. I just used the brush that comes in the polish.
ChG Pink Voltage, Under the Boardwalk, & Ride the Waves.
Sally Hansen Insta Dri Lightening and Xtreme Wear Sun Kissed.
ELF Neon Green.

Then 1 thin layer of Spotted using the method I mentioned above.

When it first arrived in the mail I was wearing GOSH Holographic. So I immediately put it on. I applied it too thick though and didn't get many bubbly formations. :( But you can see it's still pretty awesome!!!
So how do you plan on getting it!? Or do you not like the look at all?

  6. I *may* try the crackle first.. I live in Belgium and I know someone in France, but it would just be a bit of a pain.. and I'm not 100% sure I like the look..

  9. I want this soooo badly :( I found out that it costs 13.5 Euros in France, which is around $17... so a lot of the Ebay prices aren't really too overpriced... grrr. I also heard that the reason it isn't here is that someone holds the patent to the technology or something, so that's why only France gets it. So unfairrrr :(

  18. I'm holding out to the thin hope that they'll release similar polishes at a later date - I just can't bring myself to spend over $50 bucks on a nail polish. Even if I do really really really love it. lol.

awesome look though - you're tempting me just that little bit more! rofl

  19. So much better than the crackle polishes (I would actually wear this). I love it over the neons! Maybe if we all start contacting OPI they'll release it in the U.S. http://mail.opi.com/HelpDesk/HelpDesk.nsf/WTSF?OpenForm

  23. Yeah, I just e-mailed my sister in France and asked if she would pick me up a bottle before her summer visit. I never thought I would go to such an extreme for nail polish, but this is really a special circumstance!

  24. OMG!
I want it so bad. It's kinda sad that I don't have people in France.

  25. Oh you lucky dog to have landed a bottle of this! I can only hope that OPI will realize what a huge hit they have here and market it globally. I am already seeing this in a beautiful deep purple in my mind!!! Love what you did with the splotches of neons under it

  28. I live in France and bought it last week. I didn't knew it was only released in France.
I love the way you used it. I've tried it on pink and I have to practice it a little more because I used a too thick layer.

  32. I need this in my life. Now I just need to work out if it'd be cheaper to buy it on ebay or to go to France...

  33. This is so pretty! I found out that they are also sold at Sephora in The Netherlands, so I picked up one this afternoon.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Is Black Spotted really also available in the Netherlands??

    ReplyDelete
  35. Oh I have to get that looks nice. I got tired of simple nail polishes, being close to 100 I am now looking for nice nail art and that looks cool. And for once I'm lucky to live in France otherwise stuff usually is in US but not in France.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Well no :( I've just looked it's really hard to find. It's sold out on Sephora.fr and you'd need to go in a Sephora shop and I have none close to me. Well let's hope OPI or another brand will make another one like that.

    ReplyDelete
  37. It's also for sale in the Netherlands, at Sephora :)
I bought one last week, for just €11,80, yay! :D

  38. It looks AMAZINGGG with the neon combo!

  39. Oh, this looks ACE! I have just tried it over neon and I love it and was thinking of different ways of putting it on (I think it might be good over a gradient too). So I may have a go at your idea too.
