Born Pretty Store - Small Glass Dappen Dish

I was pretty stoked to receive this item for review. And it's such a simple thing to be happy about, but whatever. ;) It can be found here for $2.25.

It's quite small and you can see here how it compares to the size of a 14mL Seche Vite bottle.
So what do you use it for? (Thanks to Puja & Tinka for the name) It's a dappen dish used somehow when doing acrylics..... but I don't do acrylics.....
So I use it when I'm cleaning up with an angled eyeliner brush.
I used to pour a bit of acetone in the bottle cap, and then dip my brush in that. This little glass container makes me feel a bit more professional ;) And it's a lot less messy than pouring into the cap.
Two thumbs up!

  3. I have a few of these! They are awesome for putting acetone in when you are cleaning up your nails. And now I don't spill an entire bottle of acetone all over the place any more : )

  4. I have one just like that and use it for the same thing! I think they're rather useful. I agree with Tinka, I've read "dappen" elsewhere.

  5. I use an old nail polish remover cap too- this would be so much easier to use!

  6. its used to mix the acrylics in. you add the powder and the liquid and then with a metal tool you mix them until it gets goopy. you need to work fast because it sets pretty quick. i dont know much about nail acrylics, but dentists use the same materials for fillings. my dad is a dentist and we have a few of these in the office to mix the acrylics. you pour the acrylics in the tooth and then when it sets drill away the excess. the difference between dental acrylics and nail ones is that the dental ones get super hot as they harden. I used to work for my dad and when i had to mix for him id always comment on how its smelled like the nail salon, but that was because it was the same stuff :) sorry for the long, random, dental lesson :-P
